Week 6 - Here We Go

Nina went over for the Heparin flush and to make dad some lunch (chicken strips and brussel sprouts).

100 grams of tasty sprouted vegetables (like our named friend the brussel) every day for a fortnight can have clear protective effects against DNA damage in human blood cells.

The weather wasn’t so great, but still got to go for a walk with the dog. Dad was also able to do a bit of exercise today before Nina got there! Hmmmmm. Walking and exercise?.....No wonder when mom got home dad was worn out – take it easy!

Sundays - Visitors :-) and Drive Through Communion?

Rick and the grandkids – Jake, Matthew, and Brienna came over for a visit today. They played outside during their stay. Mom and dad were so happy they came over. Later, mom and dad went to Church. Dad stayed in the car and mom brought him communion.

After that, they picked up some dinner at Sprouts and went to pick up a Texas Lotto ticket from Tom Thumb. Good luck!

Chemo cloud a clearing......

Dad’s energy level is coming back. He did another 11 minute workout today! He still has the jaw pain, but overall feeling much better. The chemo seems to be clearing up. Dad started cleaning up his home office and going through paperwork (his favorite pastime….just kidding).

Puzzling......

Nina picked up dad’s blood work paperwork from Dr Anderson in Grapevine to bring to MDanderson in Houston; everything looked good. Nina did the dressing change of the CVC and a cap change as well. When she got over to the house, she watched the video AGAIN….can’t get enough of that instructional video! Everything went well.
Dad has been having some unexplainable jaw pain which is annoying.

He was able to get on the elliptical for 11 minutes today though, so that was great! He continues to work on puzzles in the evening.

Farewell......

Wed was a bummer. Started off with dad's upset belly and his super low energy level. Nina was going to head over in the morning, but dad was too tired for visitors and wanted to sleep. Dad made himself a lunch of scrambled eggs with a little green pepper in it with a bagel. He likes that for his afternoon lunch/snack during this chemo cycle.

Unfortunately, after lunch, we got the news that Aunt Carol lost her battle with cancer and passed away. This hit everyone very hard. We all loved her very much and will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in her family.

Nina came over in the afternoon and my mom came home from work early to be with dad. I am still in New Jersey.

Eggs, Green Peppers, and a Bagel

Dad took a break from the workout sessions on the elliptical. He wasn’t feeling all that great for exercise. He did go to get his blood drawn at the doctor’s office in Grapevine.

He wore his mask as an extra precaution from any GERMS.

Unfortunately, we had to wait 45 mins before getting his blood drawn. After we got back from the doctor’s visit, Nina made dad lunch; scrambled eggs and green peppers mixed in with a bagel. For desert, he took his meds :-). They went for a small walk with Katie and then dad laid down for some rest.

Week 5 - 8 minutes.....

Dad felt good this morning and worked out 8min on the elliptical machine.

OK, so he may have just overdone that a bit….by afternoon, he was not feeling so well so took it easy. Nina and Dad did walk around the house for about 8 minutes after they ate a hearty lunch. Afterward, dad finally took a nap…was that also for 8 minutes?

After the nap, they watched some Judge Judy.

I am ready for my close up Mr Demille! Look, I even have on a mask....
